Pumps for Water Treatment and Filtration

Water treatment & filtration

Choose the pump for its place in the process

A transfer pump, filter-feed pump and pressure-boosting pump may operate under different conditions within the same water-treatment system. Begin with the process location, liquid and required duty point, then confirm the materials and configuration.

Define the process before naming a model

  1. Locate the duty

Explain where the pump sits in the treatment process and what enters and leaves that stage. Identify tanks, filters or downstream equipment relevant to the pressure requirement.

  2. Describe the liquid

Include composition, temperature and any solids or chemicals. Water-like appearance does not establish material or seal compatibility.

  3. Confirm the operating range

Provide the target flow, required head, inlet condition and expected variations such as changing filter resistance.

Connect the duty to a product family

Keep materials and high-pressure requirements specific

State the liquid constituents and the materials required by the process designer. A stainless-steel description alone does not establish compatibility with every chemical, concentration or temperature.

For reverse-osmosis or other pressure-sensitive equipment, provide the required inlet and outlet conditions and the applicable model specification. A general water-treatment application is not a confirmation that an available pump meets a particular RO pressure or seawater duty.

What makes a quotation easier to compare

Use the same operating point, liquid, motor supply and scope of supply when comparing proposals. Request the curve and configuration for the actual model rather than comparing the maximum values of different series.

Our RFQ checklist and CDL/CDLF comparison guide explain how to make these details explicit.

Describe your treatment-stage requirement

Send the process location, liquid, flow, head and inlet conditions. Include the equipment specification if one has already been issued.
